1. Scope

This policy explains the information processed for the account, map, route, weather and community features of the CappaCuppa mobile app. CappaCuppa is an anchorage guide and route planning aid, not an official navigation device or emergency service.

2. Information we process

Your email address, password and chosen display name when creating an account.
Your profile photo, boat details, saved places and routes.
Posts, photos, comments and reactions you choose to share, and their timestamps.
Your device’s approximate or precise location if you grant permission. Location is used to sort nearby places, show your position on the map, personalise weather information and set a route’s starting point.
Catalogue cover photos uploaded by users with place management accounts.

3. Use and sharing

Information is used to operate your account, sync between devices, display community posts and provide the app’s boating features. Personal data is not sold for advertising targeting.

The service may use Supabase (authentication, database and file storage), OpenStreetMap / OpenSeaMap, Open-Meteo and your device’s location services. These services receive only the information needed for the relevant feature.

4. Location permission

Location permission is optional. Without permission, features such as sorting by distance, current position and location-based weather are limited. When the map screen opens, location is obtained once to sort by distance; continuous tracking is not performed unless the user presses the location button again.

5. Retention and deletion

Account-related information is retained while your account remains active. Profile and community images deleted by the user are permanently removed from the app and cloud storage.

The app’s Delete my account option initiates permanent deletion of account-related data, including your profile, boat details, posts, photos, comments and reactions.

If you cannot access the app, you can submit an account deletion request online . The request is processed after email ownership is verified. Any records that must be kept for legal or security reasons are retained only for the necessary period.

6. Security

Data is transferred over encrypted connections. No internet service can guarantee absolute security; if you suspect unauthorised access, change your password and contact us.
